I'm struggling to find any logic behind why I would want to reset for relics. I'm hoping someone can point out what I am missing.

I've averaged maybe 10 relics a week so far, and make enough gems to activate them on receipt, with plenty left over for other things.

Why would I want to instead save them up (stunting my progress vs activating on receipt) until I had a good number pending, and then give up all of my progress to activate them?
